Abstract

1361902 Hydropneumatic shock absorbers TOKICO Ltd 3 May 1972 [29 May 1971 3 June 1971] 20520/72 Heading F2S A hydropneumatic piston-cylinder shock absorber in which the piston rod 4 is hollow and contains gas D above liquid C, the piston 3 divides the cylinder 1 into two liquid chambers A and B, and chambers B and C are in permanent communication; is provided with an annular chamber a outside the cylinder which permits the return to the chamber D of any gas which collects at the top of the chamber A or (Fig. 4, not shown) beneath the piston-rod seal. There is also a flow of liquid through the chamber a to and from the chamber A on compression and expansion movements. The gas return flow path may include a non-return valve to prevent flow of gas from the chamber D into the chamber a, (Figs. 5-7, not shown). This valve may be in the chamber D (Fig. 7).
