1499396 Hydropneumatic shock absorbers TOKICO Ltd 19 April 1975 16271/75 Heading F2S The gas space of a hydropneumatic pistoncylinder shock-absorber comprises a chamber C behind a floating piston 5 and a chamber D in the annular space between the cylinder 1 and a cylindrical member 7, the chambers C and D communicating with each other through an opening 8. The cylindrical member 7 extends over the portion of the cylinder in which the floating piston 5 moves, but leaves at least half of the outer periphery of the cylinder exposed directly to the atmosphere. This construction enables the volume of the gas space to be increased without increasing the length of the shock absorber.
