942,509. Hydraulic shock absorbers. WOODHEAD MONROE Ltd. June 5, 1962 [Aug. 4, 1961], No. 28414/61. Heading F2S. An hydraulic shock absorber comprises two concentric tubes 12, 15 the inner tube 12 housing a valved piston 10 and the outer tube 15 together with the inner tube defining an annular expansion chamber 14 which is provided with an insert 16 of a flexibly coated or covered sponge like material. The insert may include a plurality of separate gas filled or interconnected cells.
