Abstract

812,678. Container closures. ANKNEY, R. W. Oct. 28, 1957 [Oct. 29, 1956 ; Feb. 18, 1957 ; July 15, 1957], No. 33616/57. Class 125(3). In a closure and pouring arrangement for metal containers a polyethylene spout 13 fits tightly into the opening in the end wall 10 of the container defined by a flange 12 and is held in place by a rigid ferrule 14 which is inserted in the spout. The spout has a shoulder 25 bearing against flange 12,. a thinner portion 36 and a sharp corner 29 which is brought into sealing engagement with wall 10 as the ferrule 14 is inserted. A screw cap 15 closes the spout.
