Abstract

811,863. Liquid fuel burners. EBERSPACHER, W., and EBERSPACHER, M., [trading as EBERSPACHER, J., [Firm of]]. April 23, 1956 [June 10, 1955], No. 12381/56. Classes 75(1) and 75(3) In a burner in which liquid fuel is atomized by compressed air, an air compressor 5, a rotating fuel-air nozzle 6 and a fan wheel blower 7 are mounted on the shaft of a driving motor 1, the fuel being fed to the nozzle through a bore 10 in the driving shaft and the atomizing air being fed to an annular space 29 around the driving shaft. The nozzle 6 is secured to an end of the driving shaft and forms therewith the annular space 29. The air compressor 5 is constructed as a slide valve pump and has an air intake 15 and an exhaust channel 16 leading to ports 28 in the nozzle 6. The fan wheel blower 7 is secured to the nozzle 6 and is cup shaped to enclose part of the air compressor. The driving motor is endosed in a casing 8 which terminates in an orifice 9 surrounding the nozzle 6 and leading to combustion chamber 21. Air passes from an inlet 20 in the casing 8 along the annular space 14 between the casing and the motor and branches to the compressor 5 and to the air blower 7. A worm gear driving a fuel pump 2, an electromagnetic valve 3 and an electric fuel heater of adjustable or fixed resistance are mounted at the end of the motor remote from the nozzle and air compressor. The burner may be mounted in a casing, Fig. 4 (not shown), through which air to be heated is passed by a fan mounted on an extension of the end of the driving shaft remote from the nozzle. An annular heat exchanger through which the hot exhaust gases flow surrounds the burner. An insulated hollow flared apertured electrode may be mounted on the end of the rotating atomizing nozzle to co-operate with a fixed electrode.
