Abstract

616,008. Air heaters. SEGRAVE, C. R., WILLIAMS, T. B. GLYNNE-, and BARKER, H. H. Aug. 8, 1946, No. 23486. [Class 64(i)] A portable air heater comprises a container 12 mounted on. wheels 30, 31 and containing a combustion chamber 1, a pump 8 for injecting fuel into a burner head 6 adjacent to the combustion chamber, a sparking plug 9 for igniting the fuel, a fan 5 for forcing air through a casing 4 which surrounds the combustion chamber and an engine 7 for driving the fan and the pump. The heating unit, which is more fully described in Specification 616,006, includes a spaced annular chamber 2, surrounding the combustion chamber, through which the combustion products flow before reaching the exhaust flue 18. A further spaced annular chamber 3 surrounds the chamber 2 and carries exhaust gases from the engine. The casing 12 is provided with louvred panels which are made hinged or removable for easy access to the interior. The end of the exhaust flue 17 is closed by pivoted flaps 19 which open automatically when the heater is in operation. The device is arranged as a trailer and carries a towing arm at the front. The heated air may be delivered to a flexible conduit.
