[Also in Group XIII] In a space heating device particularly for a motor vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine 31, a mixture of liquid fuel and all of the air necessary for combustion thereof is supplied by a positive displacement pump 1 through a conduit 5 to a conical combustion chamber 6 the combustion products from which together with some of the exhaust gases from the engine 31 pass into the inner tube 37 of a heat exchanger 12 (see Group XIII). The combustion chamber 6 is conical in form and is closed at one end, the other end communicating with an elongated tube extending into the inner conduit 37 of the heat exchanger. Ignition is effected by a spark plug 11 (Fig. 2) energised by means including a coil (not shown) and an interrupter 16 driven by the pump motor 17. The device from which the fuel-air mixture is drawn by the pump 1 includes a tube 8 embodying a flow control valve 10 and up which fuel is drawn from a reservoir 7 into a Venturi 3 where it is mixed with air. The reservoir includes a float which acts to cut off fuel supply to the reservoir (through a duct 9) when the level therein reaches a predetermined height.
