Abstract

1,179,587. Liquid fuel burners. K. A. HOLMWOOD. 5 Aug., 1968 [3 Aug., 1967], No.35766/67. Heading F4T. Portable oil fired burner apparatus comprises a burner head 5 to which primary air is delivered by a centrifugal fan 2 via a tube 4 and fuel is supplied by a rotary action fuel pump 3 via a tube 16 inside and coaxial with the tube 4, the fan 2 and the pump 3 being driven by an internal combustion engine 1 to which they are directly coupled and the whole apparatus being mounted in a skeleton framework 6 for ease of carrying. As shown, both the runner of fan 2 and the rotor of pump 3 are coupled directly to the output shaft of engine 1. A fuel control valve 18 is provided between the fuel pump 3 and the burner head 5 and a hood may be provided over the burner head 5 for the direction of hot gases produced. In a modification the tube 4 is branched and carries more than one burner head.
