Abstract

1308613 Power plant CAV Ltd 23 June 1970 [3 July 1969] 33611/69 Heading F1Q A power unit for providing mechanical energy from the exhaust gases of an internal-combustion engine 10 comprises in combination a fluid heater 18 positioned to be subjected to the exhaust gases leaving the internal-combustion engine, a turbine 19 driven by gaseous fluid leaving the heater and which can be used to drive external devices, pump means 23 for recirculating the fluid to the fluid heater, means 15, 17 for burning fuel intermediate the engine and the heater in the event that the heat in the exhaust gases is insufficient to drive the turbine, the fluid heater being located within a chamber 12, 13 to which the exhaust gases are fed, and inducer means 16 located in the chamber, the inducer means acting to induce a flow of air into the chamber to enable the fuel to be burnt. The inducer 16 is slidably mounted and may be coupled to the fuel control device of the engine.
