Abstract

1481752 Motor vehicle heater; burners; water heaters W BAIER W BAIER L SCHOBER and E SCHLUMPRECHT 21 April 1975 [22 June 1974] 16353/75 Headings F4A F4S and F4T A motor vehicle heater comprises a housing 1 containing a burner unit 4, a combustion chamber 2 and a heat exchanger 3. Air to be heated is blown over the heat exchanger 3 by a fan 7. The burner unit 4 includes a housing 10 with an intake spigot 11 for combustion air, a combustion air blower 6 and a fuel pump 8 with an atomizer nozzle. The fuel is ignited by a sparking plug 12 located in a bore in the housing-1. The connected end of the sparking plug is enclosed in a chamber 15 which is gastight except for communication through a tube 20 with the-suction side of the combustion air blower 6. Any exhaust gases which leak from the region of the sparking plug 12 into the chamber 15 are sucked through the tube 20, blown into the combustion chamber 2 and thereby prevented from reaching the passenger area of the vehicle. The operation of the heater is as described in Specification No. 1,460,220. A modification is mentioned where there is a water heater instead of an air heater.
