Abstract

811,690. Two-part couplings. HUBBELL Inc., H. April 1, 1957, No. 10598/57. Class 38 (1). The bared ends 24 of leads 22 of a cable 23 are connected to the pins 7, 8 of a plug by being clamped on to inclined lugs 12 on the ends of the pins between inclined faces 11, 20 on a twopart insulating body 1, 2, said parts being drawn together by screws 30, Fig. 4. Prior to insertion of the leads, the screws 30 are slackened so that springs 33 between the parts 1, 2 press said parts apart and permit insertion of the leads through an aperture 21 and between the faces 20 and lugs 12. Tightening of the screws 30 to clamp the leads also pivots inwardly a pair of clamping members 35 located adjacent the aperture 21, said members having curved surfaces 36 which grip the sheath of the cable. Socket contacts may replace the pins 7, 8 in a lengthened body part 2.
