Abstract

1396774 Two-part couplings; terminals L R BLAKE 31 Jan 1973 [1 Feb 1972] 4651/72 Heading H2E A wire is connected to a contact 14 of a twopart coupling by passing it through a hole a, Fig. 2, and a hole or slot b and clamping it with a spring 13 clipped or riveted to the contact. The spring also clamps the portion be of the wire between the contact 14 and the connector body. The wire may be further bent under the contact at e where it is clamped by screwing a lid on to the connector body. As shown the connector is a socket with contacts arranged at an angle so as to provide polarized engagement with a similarly arranged plug, Fig. 1 (not shown). If polarization is not required, the contacts are parallel. The contact 13 is of copper, brass or highly conductive alloy and spring 14 of carbon steel enhances contact pressure. Each contact may comprise a plurality of receptacles.
