Abstract

1446345 Two part couplings AMP Inc 21 Nov 1973 [7 Dec 1972] 54021/73 Heading H2E An insulating connector housing 2 has through cavities 20 extending from the mating face 16 to a rear face 18 for receiving respective contacts 22 and two mutually spaced flexible arms 36, 38 integral with the housing and extending away from the mating face, and means for joining the free ends of the arms at two locations spaced laterally of the extent of the arms whereby wires 6 connected to the contacts are clamped between the arms. Each arm comprises two parallel beams 40 extending from the rear face which are connected at their free ends by a web 42 and has two holes (43) located at the junctions of the web and beams for receiving bolts joining the free ends. Ribs 52 grip the wires 6. The housing may be of circular crosssection. Contacts 22 are secured in the cavities by a lance 24 engaging a recess 26, and comprise a rectangular socket 27 for mating with a pin, and crimping barrels 28, 30 for connection to the wire conductor and insulation.
