Abstract

1,162,705. Two-part couplings. WAGO KLEMMENWERK G.m.b.H. 12 Sept., 1966 [11 Sept., 1965; 19 Oct., 1965], No. 40638/66. Heading H2E. In securing together identical halves of a connector, projections at the forward end of the housing of one half engage a rear portion of the mating housing. A contact blade 12 is pushfitted into a resilient insulating sleeve 11 bifurcated at its forward end into arms 11a which are joined by rounded webs 11b and which interlock with the arms 11a of an identical sleeve 11 arranged at right-angles to it, the webs 11b of each sleeve 11 engaging lips 11d formed at the ends of the arms 11a of the mating sleeve. Each contact 12 comprises an inner rigid tab 12b and a pair of outer resilient limbs 12a which straddle the tab 12b of the mating contact. Wire connections to tabs 12d of the contacts may project from the sleeves 11, when a surrounding insulating sleeve may be provided, or may be enclosed by solder in extensions of the sleeves 11. Several contacthousing sleeves 11 may be mounted in a pair of earthed metal plates (15, Figs. 7-9, not shown) to form a multi-pole connector which is polarized either by pins or by the arrangement of its contacts.
