Abstract
810,508. Boots &c. DENTON & SON Ltd., B. July 19, 1957 [July 19, 1956; March 11, 1957], Nos. 22453/56 and 8022/57. Class 17(2) A method of making moccasin-type shoes is characterized by pre-sewing the insole 1a, Fig. 1, and quarters 1b along the lines EF, HG, and fixing this presewn assembly to a last, presewing the front collar 3 to the apron 4 along the lines AB, CD, and securing the pieces thus assembled to the insole by adhesively bonding the bottom edge 3a of the collar to the insole. Hand sewing may thus be eliminated as the collar and insole portions may be stitched together off the the last when the welt is attached since the upper has already been shaped on the last. A stiffener may be inserted in the heel between counter 2 and quarters 1b. The ends RS, TU, of collar 3 are also sewn to the quarters off the last after being fastened together by adhesive on the last. The ends ofstrap 5 are fixed to the undersurface of insole 1 by adhesive and also by stitching when the welt is attached. In a modification eyelets are provided in quarter pieces 11b, Fig. 3, of insole and quarter piece 11, the method of construction is otherwise unchanged.
