Abstract

681,702. Making footwear. KEFERSTEIN, C. G. Feb. 28, 1948 [Sept. 18, 1946], No. 6321/48. Class 17 (ii). A vamp lining 1 has two slits 2 to form a tab 3, Figs. 1, 3. After it has been attached to an upper, it is slip-lasted to an insole 5, Figs. 2, 3, with the points 7 arranged to overlap in the vicinity of a central projection 6 on the toe end of the insole. Overlapping of the points 7 allows for adjustment of measurement around the edge of the insole of the securing stitches in stitching the lining to the insole. The point 6 is then cut off, a last inserted and the tab 3 stuck down to the body of the lining. A stiffener may be inserted between upper and lining and the upper lasted with its margin out-turned for attachment by sewing or cement to an outer sole. In a modification, Fig. 9, the lasted upper is stitched to a welt 26, lining 1 and to a stitchreceiving rib 27 with which the innersole 5a is provided before its attachment to the lining.
