Abstract

176,180. Smith, E. H., and Busby, E. A., (trading as Busby & Co., E. A.). Dec. 23, 1920. Athletic boots.-A football boot is provided with an external instep pad having a central division the adjacent edges of which are eyeleted to the corresponding edges of the opening in the front of the upper and are thus adapted to be drawn together by the lacing. As shown, the two parts of the pad are convex and are formed of rubber or like material E, secured in position by a covering piece F of leather. Each piece F is secured to the upper by stitching J and has integral extensions G, H, the former constituting an oblique waist-strap which is lasted in between the upper and the sole, and the latter an eyelet-strip, extending from the toe-cap to the corresponding edge of the opening in the upper. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 18195/92 and 429/00.
