Abstract
765,493. Boots &c. TODDLERS FOOTWEAR (1954), Ltd. Dec. 15, 1954 [Nov. 2, 1954], No. 31634/54. Class 17 (2). In a shoe or more particularly a bootee, any conventional upper 1 is slit to form two flaps 3' 3" which may be bent under the heel. A back strap 8 with its rough or grain surface outwards is attached to the rear of the upper by stitching 9 which leaves its edges free. After inserting a last, the upper, and preferably a welt strip 10 also, is attached by stitching 11 to a sole 4 having an extension 5 under the heel. An exterior heel piece 6 has an extention 7 previously attached by adhesive to the back strap 8 and this is turned in under the extension 5 of the sole, and thereafter the stitching 11 is extended to the top of the heel piece 6 at each side. In a modified method, a sock is first attached to the upper in the manner usual for force lasted shoes. The welting 10 preferably extends to the top of the heel piece.
