[Also in Group XIII] In a boiler comprising a water jacket 3 around a furnace 1 and water walls 5-8 heated by flue gases from the furnace, a dust separator 11 is provided laterally of or behind the furnace in the flue gas path between the furnace 1 and water walls 5-8. In the oil-fired boiler shown, two cyclone separators arranged in parallel are surrounded by a water space 12, and each has a hot gas inlet 10 and outlet 14. The space above each separator has an insulated cover. Two or more separators may be provided in parallel or in series, and may have dampers to cut one or more off. The flue gases pass to the chimney 20 through a fan 19 or directly.
