Abstract

864,245. Centrifugal separators. PINTSCH BAMAG A. G. March 17, 1959, No. 9201/59. Class 23 [Also in Group X] A water-cooled converter chimney 1, Fig. 1, comprises a series of water-cooled cyclone separators 3, arranged symmetrically around the chimney, through which the dust-laden converter gases are passed, via chimney wall vents 4, to the atmosphere, the separated dust falling through ducts 8 to a discharge 9. In a modified chimney the hot water from the chimney and separator cooling systems is passed to water-heating partitions 11, Fig 3, situated above the water-cooled chimney cover 2 and a portion of the gases rising in each of the separator exhaust stacks 5 is diverted to flow past the partitions. Alternatively, or additionally, to the partitions 11, similar water-heating partitions may be disposed in the chimney below the vents 4 the water heated in the partitions being fed to an external hot water tank.
