Abstract

1,014,169. Flue baffles; steam boiler flues. SULZER BROS. Ltd. Nov. 16, 1964 [Nov. 18, 1963], No. 46603/64. Headings F4A and F4B. A flue for combustion gases from a combustion chamber of a vapour generator has heat exchange tubes 6, 7 extending transversely of the gas flow (indicated by arrows 4, 5) the flue being divided into two regions H 1 , H 2 having baffle plates 8, 8<SP>1</SP> respectively positioned parallel to the gas flow to minimize the harmful acoustic vibrations caused by Karman-vortex separation at the tubes. The plates 8, 8<SP>1</SP> are staggered and may overlap as in Fig. 3 (not shown). There may also be a small gap between the top and bottom edges of the plates, Fig. 4 (not shown).
