808,038. Waveguides. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 16, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 12426/57. Class 40 (8). A waveguide system is ventilated by means of dried or heated air or an inert gas such as nitrogen which is passed into the system through one branch of a directional coupler. The coupler shown effects a complete transfer of wave energy from branch A (connected, e.g., to a transmitter) to branch B (connected, e.g., to an aerial). Branch C is connected to the gas source and is provided with a septum S to prevent propagation of energy along the branch. Branch D is provided with a gas-tight seal Z.
