Abstract

766,074. Waveguides. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. March 11, 1955 [March 15, 1954], No. 7438/54. Class 40 (8). [Also in Group XL (c)] Microwave devices such as filters, couplers and mixers are comprised in an assembly consisting of a number of waveguides having certain of their walls in common. The arrangement shown is a microwave repeater (see Group XL (c)) and comprises filters F1, F2, F3, F4, F4<1>, a coupler X, mixers M1, M2, M3, a termination L, &c., all shown conventionally. The assembly is built upon a rectangular metallic base-plate having milled or etched grooves to receive the waveguide walls.. The waveguides are closed in by a cover-plate similar to the base-plate. Mixers M2, M3 comprise directional couplers of the type in which energy is transferred through an opening in the common wall of two adjacent waveguides, the opening being loaded with spaced rods.
