948,299. Waveguides. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. June 4, 1962 [June 15, 1961], No. 21453/62. Heading H1W. A short slot coupler comprises two lengths 1, 2 of rectangularly sectioned waveguide coupled by a slot 4 in a common broad, side guide wall and so arranged that two types of waveguide waves can exist simultaneously in the coupling area, the slot extending across the full width a of the guide. The length I of the slot is preferably chosen to provide a coupling attenuation of 3dB, and the guide transverse dimensions are either standard, or smaller than standard, in the latter case the coupler requires the provision of matching transition elements when inserted in a standard waveguide system.
