Abstract
962,601. Waveguides. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. Jan. 4, 1962 [Feb. 18, 1961], No. 376/62. Heading H1W. [Also in Division H4] An impedance discontinuity in a waveguide is compensated by means of an annular member of dielectric material extending from the walls of the guide at a distance from the discontinuity equal to one-quarter wavelength. The method is particularly applicable to a horn radiator of square or circular cross-section propagating energy in two orthogonally polarized modes. The compensating annulus 6 is preferably made from the same material as the cover plate 3 of the horn. Screws 5 are provided for adjustment.
