Abstract

803,329. Electric air heaters. COX, P. C. Jan. 14, 1957 [Oct. 13, 1955], No. 29126/55. Class 39(3) A portable electric heating appliance comprises a fan accommodated within a casing provided with a tubular spout disposed around and spaced from a discharge tube housing a heating element. both the spout and tube forming passages 'for the flow of air from the fan. As shown, a casing 1 has a tubular spout 2 at one end. a dished cover 3 with air ports 4 and a cage 5 at the other end end, and a hollow handle 6 with two switches 7 and 8. A removable air discharge tube 9, supported by radial fins 10, lies concentrically within the spout 2 to form an annular space 11 and contains a heating element 31. A fan 12 driven by an electric motor 13, forces air through the tube 9 and space 11, the air through the tube being heated and the tube being cooled by the air flowing through the space 11. The discharge tube may be replaced by one of different diameter and the spout may be detachably assembled to the casing. The switches are arranged so that the heating element cannot be energized unless the fan is in operation.
