Abstract

A natural rubber latex composition for manufacturing rubber articles by coagulation at a temperature between 30 DEG and 130 DEG C. contains a heat-sensitizer comprising at least one polymethoxy acetal having the formula <FORM:0802343/IV (a)/1> wherein n is an integer of 5 to 40, or a mixture of polymethoxy acetals having said formula, and R is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group. In one method of preparing the composition a stabilizer is added to natural rubber latex to prevent coagulation by the acid which is added to lower the pH to 7.5. Fillers, vulcanizing agent, and other ingredients are then added, followed by the polymethoxy acetal or acetals. In examples the stabilizer consists of polyoxyethylated oleyl alcohol, the acid is sulphuric, and the acetal is of the above formula where n is 5, 11 or 15. U.S.A.
