Abstract

A composition, suitable for use as an elastic sealing member comprises a butadiene and up to 7.5% by weight and sufficient to give a desired swelling value to the composition of 2-mercaptobenzimidazole. The composition may also contain up to 15% by weight of styrene. An accelerating combination selected from the mercaptobenzothiazole and thiuramsulphide series may also be incorporated preferably in amounts of more than 3% by weight of the polymer portion of the composition and is preferably 2-mercapto benzothiazole and dipentamethylene thiuram tetrasulphide. The composition contains in addition the usual vulcanising agents. The composition is injection moulded or stamped and vulcanised at 145 DEG C.
