Abstract

798,851. Cramps. HIGGINBOTHAM, F. S. Sept. 13, 1955 [Oct. 1, 1954], No. 28378/54. Class 61. A picture frame clamp of the type used for assembling the component members of picture frames comprises four L-shaped angle members 1 adapted to engage the corners of the picture frame, one of the members having means for operating a tensioning member 8 embracing the angle members whereby the latter are drawn towards each other and the component parts of the frame are clamped in place. Three of the members 1 are mounted on small base-plates 2, are provided with apertures 3 so that a nail may be driven through into the picture frame corners. The other member 1 has a base plate 4 one end of which is bent at right angles and has a hole in which a screw-threaded member 6 is supported. The member 6 engages a movable angle member 7 adapted to slide on the baseplate 4 and which has fastening means for the tensioning member. These fastening means comprise a hook 9 at one end of the angle member 7 and a bolt 10, washer 11 and fly-nut 12 at the other end of the angle member 7. The tensioning member 8 comprises a wire which goes round the picture frame to engage in grooves 13 in the three angle members 1. The tensioning member 8 is adjusted by means of a knob 14 on the end of the screw-threaded member 6. The other end of the member 6 is anchored in a hole 15 in the angle member 1.
