Abstract

798,805. Polythene coated fabrics; laminates- TRUBENISED (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd- Sept. 10, 1954 [Sept. 10, 1953; June 22, 1954], Nos. 25069/53 and 1958/54. Class 140. [Also in Group VII] Stiffening material comprises single- or multiply textile fabric wherein at least one ply contains strands of cellulose acetate and at least one ply is coated or impregnated with polythene. One form of stiffening material comprises a mixed woven fabric of cotton and cellulose acetate, provided on one face with a coating of polythene applied either in molten form or as a preformed sheet. In a three-ply material a layer coated or impregnated with polythene is disposed between two layers containing cellulose acetate strands, the layers being secured together by fusion of the polythene. An alternative three-ply material consists of two normal fabric layers on opposite sides of a layer containing cellulose acetate, the assembly being coated or impregnated with polythene before or after fusion of the cellulose acetate.
