Abstract
1,239,911. Laminated fabric. GLAZEBROOK STEEL & CO. Ltd. 9 May, 1968 [15 Feb., 1967], No. 7225/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions D1-D2] A method of producing a non-woven material having different characteristics at its opposite surfaces comprises superimposing a non-woven layer of fibres upon a non-woven layer of fibres having a different characteristic and stitchbonding the layers to produce a unitary structure. In one method described for producing electric blanket material, material formed by the above method and having at least a heatsealable surface is secured at spaced regions to a second material which may be a heat-sealable sheet or a stitch-bonded material containing at least some heat-sealable fibres. In a particular example two materials each consisting of a layer of viscose rayon fibres and a layer of P.V.C. fibres stitch-bonded together have their layers of P.V.C. fibres heat-sealed to each other at spaced points or lines to form an electric blanket material. The surface of such material may be raised. In a further method the material may consist of more than two layers. The outer surfaces may have different colours, density, wear resistance or heat-insulating properties. The material may be used as garment lining.
