Abstract

806,617. Shirt collars. TRUBENISED (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. Aug. 12, 1957 [May 31, 1956], No.16847/56. Class 141 In a one-piece collar comprising two outer plies and a lining ply which contains or carries' thermoplastic material distributed over its whole area, the end portions of the lining in the collar top only are stiffened by selective activation of the thermoplastic material. In one form, the lining ply comprises a mixed fabric of cotton and cellulose acetate threads, the cellulose acetate threads being-either buried within the thickness of the fabric or appearing on one face only, the portions to be stiffened may be treated with a solvent and subjected to heat and pressure to effect internal bonding, or pieces of non-thermoplastic material treated with a solvent may be fused to these portions by subjecting the assembly to heat and pressure. Alternatively, the lining ply may comprise a cotton fabric coated with polyethylene, the collar top end portions only being treated to fuse the polyethylene. The collar includes also a foldline-determining tape. According to the Provisional Specification the polyethylene film need not cover the whole area of the lining ply but only those portions to be stiffened. Specification 789,515 is referred to.
