Abstract
876,387. Shirt collars. TUBENISED (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. May 3, 1960 [May 19, 1959], No. 16936/59. Class 141 In a shirt collar comprising one-piece face and back plies 7, 6 and a two-piece lining wherein the two pieces 8, 12 overlap along the upper edge of the collar band, the overlapping lining pieces are secured together only by stitching 21 which also passes through at least one of the outer plies and not by any wholly internal stitching. The plies 6, 7, 8, 12 are assembled as shown in Fig. 1 and joined by peripheral stitching 18, then after the collar is turned the stitching 21 is applied through the back ply and lining and optionally through the face ply. Each end of the cape lining 12 is stiffened by a fabric patch 13 and by an oblique stiffener (not shown) located in a pocket 15 formed by a further patch 14. Different arrangements of overlap of the lining pieces are described, and in one embodiment the lining piece 12 extends throughout both the cape and band portions. Either the band or cape may be stiffened by making the corresponding lining piece of fabric coated with or containing threads of adhesive material.
