Abstract
798,475. Fluid-pressure servomotors. COCKBURNS, Ltd. Feb. 17, 1956 [March 24, 1955], No. 8573/55. Class 135. In a stop-valve installation in which the stop valve 10 may be closed by power, e.g. in an emergency by means of a valveclosing servo-cylinder 10a and in which a clutch device 13 for the valve spindle nut 23 is provided to permit the nut to be freed for power closing of the valve, the stop valve may be re-opened by power by means of a further servo-cylinder 15 to which pressure fluid is admitted from a change-over valve 20 when its control member 22 is moved from a " normal position " to " valve-opening " position. This movement of the control member diverts pressure fluid in a conduit 19 connected to the stop-valve inlet 11 from control valves 16, 17, effective on the occurrence of engine overspeed or low vacuum in the condenser to close the stop-valve, to a conduit 21 leading to the servo-cylinder 15. The clutch device 13 is operated by a control cylinder 18 which is also effective to exhaust the space below the valve closing servo-piston.
