Abstract

797,078. Fluid-actuated valves. PARR, K. Feb. 18, 1955 [Feb. 18, 1954], No. 4869/55. Class 135. In a combined pressurereducing and relief valve actuated by a pressureresponsive diaphragm loaded by a spring, stop means are provided to limit the downward movement of the spring to prevent full spring pressure being exerted against the relief valve when the apparatus is not under pressure. The valve comprises a casing 2 having an inlet nozzle 5 controlled by a pressurereducing valve 8 and a reduced pressure outlet 7. A flexible diaphragm 13 clamped between the casing and a cover 14 is provided with an orifice 17 coacting with a relief valve 12 to discharge fluid into the cover and thence to an outlet (not shown). The valves 8 and 12 are connected by a frame 11 so that they move together, are urged downwardly by a loading spring 21 and upwardly by outlet pressure and a light spring 15. The stop means consist of an annular flange 20 formed on the cover 14.
