Abstract

1,039,528. Valves. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Aug. 14, 1963, No. 32175/63. Heading F2V. A fluid-pressure regulator for use in oxygen therapy equipment comprises a housing 15, 16, not shown, having an inlet for connection to a source of fluid under pressure and an outlet for discharge of fluid at a reduced pressure, e.g. an adjustable choke 28, a valve seat 7, a valve member 9 adapted to be urged into sealing engagement with the seat 7 by the pressure of fluid at the source, a pressure responsive diaphragm 17 operatively associated with the valve member 9 and adapted to be subjected on one side to the pressure in the outlet urging it in a direction to allow the valve to close and on the other side to a loading force, e.g. the adjustable spring 23, urging it in a direction to open the valve, the housing comprising two identical parts having radially outwardly directed flanges 18 and an annular retaining ring 19 which engages the two flanges to prevent their separation and to retain the periphery of the diaphragm 17 between them in a fluid-tight manner. The valve member 9 is mounted in a screwed nozzle 1 connected to the container c and a spring 10 augments the pressure fluid in urging the valve on to the seat 7.
