793,138. Motor-driven winches. CHASSOT, L. March 26, 1956, No. 9341/56. Class 78 (5). A motor driven winch comprises a motor (not shown), the shaft 7 of which drives grooved pulley 4 which frictionally pulls in the cable 5, said shaft also driving cable drum 6 which stores the cable passing from the pulley, the drum being driven through a friction clutch at a speed such that as to keep in tension the cable being wound on to the drum. As shown, shaft 7 drives pulley 4 through friction clutch 8, sprocket 9, sprocket 11, sprocket 13, sprocket 15, sprocket 19, and sprocket 21 fixed to the said pulley. Similarly shaft 7 drives drum 6 through clutch 8 sprockets 9, 11, 13 and 15, shaft 16, friction clutch 22, freewheel 23, sprocket 24, and sprocket 26 fixed to said drum. The cable passes from the pulley round guides 31 and 32 before being stored on drum 6. The pulley may be made in two parts to allow adjustment for wear. The winch may be provided with means for removable attachment to a carriage.
