[Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] Mechanism for driving a film spool comprises a spindle disposed on a pivotally-mounted arm, the weight of spool and spindle being supported by the belt which drives the spindle, so that the tension increases with the weight of film on the spool. As shown, the arm 1 carries a spindle with a pulley 26, a gear-wheel 32 and a driven pulley (not shown). Pivoted at 12 to the arm 1 is another arm 11 carrying a spindle with a square spool-driving portion 23, a pulley 27 and a gear-wheel 19. A belt 28 connects the pulleys 26 and 27. For re-winding, the arm 11 is lifted until the gears engage and held in this position by a latch 36 engaging a pin 37, the belt then being slack.
