Abstract

142,619. McEwen, J. B. March 28, 1919. Feed-motions.-In order that a reproducing- machine may be adapted for recording, spur-wheel gearing driven by the turntable is provided for causing the needle to travel radially as the disk rotates. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the turntable spindle drives, through a belt or chain g, a train of gear-wheels which causes a drum i to wind up the cord or chain j against the action of a weight or spring k, the rod j being attached at p to the tone-arm. The train of wheels is mounted on a frame u which is pivoted at v to enable the belt g to be tightened. In a modification specially suited for use with hornless machines, a horn and tone-arm in one piece are integral with the last gear-wheel of the train, and turn with it.
