Abstract

418,583. Gramophones. FREEMAN, A., 47, Bath Road, Kettering, Northamptonshire. March 25, 1933, Nos. 9031 and 28168. [Class 40 (ii).] The turntable spindle of a magazine gramophone is extended to pass through the holes in the records A which are supported, above the turntable, at one part of their periphery by a fixed but adjustable support C and at the diametrically opposite point by a record-feeding helix B. According to a modification, the extension N, Fig. 8, of the turntable spindle may be helical to feed the released record A<1> gently on to the turntable. The helix B is driven through reduction gearing by a rubbertyre friction wheel z which engages the periphery of the turntable, the wheel z being carried by a spring-pressed arm 2, Fig. 6, which rotates in the direction indicated by the arrow so that should an increase of load be thrown on the driving mechanism, as by a jam occurring in the feeding gear, the drive wheel z tends to be thrown out of engagement with the turntable. The helix B may be replaced by a spindle having a number of parallel discs perpendicular to the spindle and gapped at one part of the periphery, so that on rotation of the spindle the records descend step by step.
