Abstract
636,487. Magazine gramophones. PAILLARD & CIE SOC. ANON., E. May 9, 1947, No. 12562. Convention date, June 5, 1946. [Class 40 (ii)] A record magazine for a gramophone comprises two or more shafts 5, arranged around the turntable 1, each shaft being rotatable between limits and carrying a set of main supporting members 15 and also a set of auxiliary supporting members 14 which are angularly displaced from the main set. The arrangement is such that if the shafts are rotated in one direction by operating member 13, the records supported individually by each pair of members 15 fall on to the next lower pair of auxiliary members 14, and when the shafts return to their normal position due to the action of spring 10 the records fall again on to the main members 15. Each record is then supported by the pair of members 15 immediately below the pair by which it was previously supported, and the lowest record has been released on to the turntable. The member 13 may be operated manually or automatically under control of the pick-up. A modification is described in which the auxiliary members 14 are mounted on a sleeve which rotates with shaft 5 but rises and falls during the movement so that the records are transferred from one set of supporting members to the other smoothly.
