Abstract

Gauze, of cotton or rayon, having a mesh area of between 0.00015 and 0.04 sq. in. is impregnated with an oil composition comprising at least 5 per cent oil and at least 2 per cent wetting agent, the latter having both oil soluble and water soluble emulsifier properties. The amount of oil composition is preferably between 20 and 200 per cent of the dry weight of the fabric. By this process the threads are coated with oil and become non-sticking, while the meshes are left open to allow exudates to pass through.
