Abstract

A two-ply adhesive bandage comprises an open-mesh fabric, termed the carrier, impregnated or coated with a water-resistant adhesive in such manner that the treated fabric remains porous, to which is adhered a porous material, termed the backing, such that the bandage has one surface of an adhesive nature and one which is dry and, if desired, washable in situ. The carrier may be cotton open-mesh woven fabric whilst the backing may be a woven fabric of natural or synthetic fibres or a perforated sheet or film. Both carrier and backing may be elastic in one or both directions or non-elastic. A rubber adhesive may be employed.
