Abstract
792,268. Ventilators. FITT, T. C. May 18, 1956 [April 19, 1955], No. 11271/55. Class 137 An airflow rectifier 11, positioned within a duct 12 between an axial flow fan 10 and a diffuser (not shown) comprises plates 13 arranged radially within the duct 12, having outer upper edges 16 perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the duct and inclined inner edges 17, and being welded together at 14. The plates 13, being of maximum axial dimension adjacent the periphery of the duct, offer maximum deflecting and frictional resistance to the air flow from fan 10 where the helical motion and air speed and pressure are greatest. The helical motion is converted into an axial flow and is supplied to the diffuser at a uniform speed and pressure across the duct, thus ensuring draughtfree diffusion.
