Abstract

792,135. Piston valves. ROCKFORD MACHINE TOOL CO. July 27, 1955 [Aug. 13, 1954], No. 21697/55. Class 135. A control valve for a double-acting fluid motor comprises a reciprocable closure member having lands 28, 30, 29 controlling four sets of ports 19a, 18a, 18b, 22a, each set being arranged in a slightly helical fashion in a fixed sleeve 17 so as to provide a gradual opening of the ports as the closure member is moved by engagement of a stylus 36 with a master pattern. The ports 19a, 22a are interconnected by a passage 6 and communicate with an exhaust 3 whilst the ports 18a, 18b communicate with a pressure fluid supply 2. The two ends of the motor are connected to passages 4, 5 which communicate. with ports 20a, 21a opening to reduced portions of the closure member between the lands. The . closure member is loaded by an adjustable spring 40 and may be operated manually by a handle 45.
