Abstract
919,145. Valves. CITROEN S.A., ANDRE. Dec. 20, 1960 [Dec. 22, 1959], No. 43704/60. Class 135. A three-way axially-movable slide valve 2 with adjustable overlap comprises a valve body 1 having a bore into which three ports 3, 4, 5 open, the port 5 being a working port, the ports 3, 4 being pressure and exhaust ports respectively, a slide-valve 2 mounted in the bore and axially movable and angularly adjustable therein, the valve having a passage means 6 with boundaries defining relative distances from said pressure and exhaust ports that vary with the angular adjustment of the valve in the body, the passageway means being in constant communication with the working port and slidable axially to communicate with one of the other two ports. As shown in Fig. 3, the passageway means 6 is formed by a groove having inclined edges so that upon rotation of the valve 2, the overlap is varied. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, a diametral hole 6 is formed in the valve and is arranged to cooperate with inclined ports 3, 4. In a further modification the bore 6 in the valve is connected by an annular groove which co-operates with bores as in Fig. 3, the overlap then being equal to a function of the angle of rotation of the slide valve.
