Abstract
790,271. Centrifugal spinning. GARDELLA, A., and GARDELLA, C. Feb. 7, 1956 [Feb. 10, 1955], No. 3853/56. Class 120(2) [Also in Group XXXIV] A centrifugal spinning frame for long and hard vegetable fibres and in which the spinning cans are suspended and open at the bottom is provided with a support plate for each can to reduce vibration of the cans. Each support plate is rotatable and may be brought into and out of driving engagement with its associated can. Each can 2 suspended from a frame 1 has associated with it a support plate 16 provided with a rubber or leather ring 20 which makes a friction coupling with the edge of the can 2 when the plate 16 is raised into engagement. The support plates 16 for a set of cans are carried by a plate 9 which may be mounted for lateral movement, or supported on a lifting member 13 when the cans are to be engaged. When the cans 2 are to be doffed, yarn carriers are moved to positions in which, the yarn may collapse on to the carriers. The bottom edge 202 of each can may be serrated to sever the threads. A bevelled portion 402 of a can may engage a bevelled portion 216 of a support plate 16. In another embodiment, the inside edge of a can may engage a friction ring on the outer edge of the support plate which may be carried by a resilient bushing permitting it to adjust itself for misalignment with the spindle.
