Abstract

306,396. Meyer, R. J. Feb. 18, 1928, [Convention date]. Spindle apparatus.-In ring spinning-machines arms 4, Fig. 3, are operated so as to move the travellers 1 radially during the winding of each chase and thereby to reduce the variation in the tangential angle of the yarns when winding on different diameters. The traveller rotates in an annular space between a ring 2 and a cover 3, and its inward radial movement is controlled by a lip 3' on the cover which is adapted to engage a projection b, Fig. 7. The arms 4 are moved by a rod 9 mounted on the ring rail and reciprocated horizontally by reason of the engagement of a roller at the end thereof with a cam member. The cam member is mounted on a vertical rod which is raised at each lift by a projection on the end lifting-poker. More than one presser arm for each traveller or a leaved diaphragm, such as used in photographic apparatus, may be used to effect the radial movement of the traveller.
