Abstract
345,195. Yarn - winding machines. STUBBS, Ltd. J., and STUBBS, J. H., Mill Street Works, Ancoats, Manchester. Oct. 7, 1929, No. 30302. [Class 120 (ii).] In a winding frame for bottle bobbins for hosiery manufacture &c. of the type having a progression disc 8 on a traverse rod 7, the rod 7 is movably mounted and connected with a spindle stop-motion, so that positive actuation of the stop-motion to lift the spindle 3 from its drive 5 causes movement of the rod 7 away from the bobbin windings thereby allowing the bobbin to be doffed and avoiding uneven winding due to contact of the disc 8 with the windings as the spindle, rotating from inertia, moves upwards. The rod 7, with a guide rod 12 and connected with a thread guide 10 of porcelain &c., is mounted on an arm 16 pivoted on a bracket 18 on the lifter rail 13, a pin 26 of sufficient length to allow for the traverse being adjustably bolted to the arm 16 and projecting through a slot 20 in an arm 19 pivoted to a bracket 22 on the spindle rail, the arm 19 which also carries the cam 14 and a handle 28 having a second slot for the spindle 3 ; thus as the arm 19 is moved, the cam 14 separates the friction driving wheels 4, 5 by raising the spindle &c., and the pin 26 and arm 16 are moved thus displacing the progression disc 8 &c.
