788,878. Gas burners. BRITISH OXYGEN CO., Ltd. Sept. 28, 1955 [Sept. 30, 1954], No. 27610/55. Class 75(1) In a mixer tube 1 for a gas burner, a surface 12 extends wholly across the inlet end of the tube normal to the bore 6 thereof and inlet openings for the gases to be mixed are arranged close to each other and directed so that the gases enter the tube radially. The surface 12 serves to reflect a pressure front caused by a flashback and is formed by the end face of a spigot 11 on a plug 10 screwed into a counterbore 8 in the inlet end of the tube. The inlet passage for oxygen consists of an axial bore 9 in the plug 10, radial drillings 13 extending from the blind end of the bore 9 to the annular space between the sidewall of the spigot and the side wall of the counter bore 8 and the annular space between the reflecting surface 12 and the floor of the counterbore 8. Fuel gas passes along the annular space 3 between a reduced end 2 of the tube and a casing 4 screwed thereon and enters the tube through radial openings 7 positioned in the tube as close as possible to the floor of the counterbore 8.
